A Tenant’s Guide to Property in Marylebone

Marylebone is one of Central London’s most desirable rental hotspots. It has a peaceful, literary ambiance, which is reinforced by its elegant properties and proximity to green spaces. It’s also got all the amenities you need, including some world-renowned shops, such as Daunt Books.

If you’re thinking about renting in Marylebone, here’s more information about the sort of properties you’ll find here.

Types of property available to rent in Marylebone

    Luxury apartments

If you’re looking for something truly special, one of the area’s prestigious luxury apartments might appeal. These ultra-opulent homes are sometimes located in period properties, but there are some modern examples on the market too. With this style of apartment, you’ll benefit from spacious living areas, large outdoor spaces (gardens, balconies or roof terraces), parking, and multiple bedrooms. The contemporary developments also come with 24-hour concierges, bars, gyms and more.

Unsurprisingly, these properties command a high price. Anticipate paying anything from £10,000 to £25,000 a month for a high-end apartment in this area.

    Period houses

If you’re a fan of period living, you’ll love the houses available to rent in Marylebone. While flats dominate the market, you’ll still find plenty of terraced homes here, plus a few semi-detached and detached properties too.

The area is famous for its spectacular Georgian and Victorian architecture, and these townhouses make excellent family homes, with several reception rooms and bedrooms, high ceilings, and a wealth of original features.

They’re highly desirable, with rental rates typically being anything from £3,000 to £5,000 a month for a smaller house, up to £15,000 for a luxurious, spacious home with outdoor space.

    Studio flats

Those working with a smaller budget will be delighted to know that Marylebone has some competitively priced studio flats on the market too. These may be compact, but come with everything you’ll need to enjoy a good standard of living; including a kitchen area, living space, and a bedroom area. Many are also situated within period buildings, and come with attractive architectural features and large windows.

A studio flat in Marylebone costs anything from £550 to £1,500 a month, on average.

    One and two-bedroom apartments

There are several one- and two-bedroom flats in this area, which are ideal for couples or flatmates renting together. Some are located in modern developments, offering light, airy accommodation throughout, while others are situated in sub-divided period buildings.

It’s not uncommon for these apartments to come with some private outdoor space, or access to communal gardens. Prices range from £1,500 per month for a one-bedroomed flat, up to £6,000 for a luxury apartment in a prime location.

    Where to start your search?

If you regularly commute to other parts of the capital, you may want to start your search in the streets surrounding Marylebone Station, or one of the other stations in the vicinity, such as Baker Street or Edgware Road. The roads leading from Park Road are also popular, as they offer proximity to Regent’s Park.

Alternatively, for an easy stroll to Oxford Street (and its world-famous shops), look for properties in south-east Marylebone; for example, around New Cavendish Street.
